3 Traditional Toys People Have Forgotten About.
New toys are made every single day and old toys have to make way for them. We have all but said goodbye to the traditional, individually handmade toys and now embraced mass-produced electrical toys that have lights and sounds and eat batteries like grains of rice. Let’s take a look at some of the most iconic old toys and why they were loved so much
Rag dolls. There is nothing more simple than a rag doll. A whole generation were brought up on them and they went everywhere with their owners. Among their most appealing features was the ability to wash them simply by dunking them in warm water and not having to worry about bits breaking or falling off. These days Barbie and crying replica babies are all the rage. These cannot be washed using the same method but I would encourage you to give it a go.
Wooden bikes. Bikes these days are pretty much all made out of metal or plastic as these are generally the cheapest options for production. There is no beating however a bike that has been loving crafted out of good hardwood. They were close to indestructible and looked great as the wood aged and picked up character.Often people used these wooden bikes as pieces of furniture and they just fitted in with character of most houses
Rocking horses. Much like the wooden bike, a rocking horse made from fine wood not only looked stunning in any home but also lasted a lifetime due to its simple yet effective design. The best feature about buying one of these though is that your child can still have the horsey they always wanted but without the expensive and effort of a real one. The art of rocking horse making has been all but lost sadly, although you can find some makers if you look hard enough.
