All About The Lasting Popularity Of Indie Music

As another Decade finally closes its doors, and another one is about to start, let’s take a look at some defining moments of the last Decade. Every Decade has defining moments, whether it is technological advances or something in the Media, or even something to do with the music of the past Decade, namely indie music.

Indie music seem to have lasted longer than other music Genre’s of the past few Decades. There was the New wave and Heavy metal of the Eighties, then there was alternative rock in the Nineties, but nothing seems to touch the indie music culture.

The younger bands of the last Decade wanted to test out different styles of music and this fuelled the indie movement, and surprisingly it is still as strong now as when it first started.

So what do you call indie music? It is generally associated with a band that has no ties to a corporate label, but there are now some bands about that have signed for major labels but still class themselves as indie.

What is for certain is that indie bands were out of the mainstream of music; this meant that they did not play all your traditional top 40 kind of music; they were a little bit more creative than usual.

With the Artists getting more creative all the time perhaps the indie scene will be around for a lot longer than we would have imagined.

This is great for music fans; the creativity of the indie bands gives them a chance to listen to a different type of music than they are used to, and it should be good to see where indie music ends up in the next Decade.

Most decades have a defining sound or music Genre, but in the case of the indie movement, I have a funny feeling that this may last longer than one Decade
