Basketball Star Iverson Joins Memphis

Although I despise Allen Iverson due to what he did in Detroit with my franchise, corrupting what was an extremely tightly knit team that was one of the premier teams in the Eastern Conference, I have got to set my disdain for the man aside.

By no means because I would like to, it’s since the major acquisition in the existence of the Memphis Grizzlies’ team occurred on Wednesday. Iverson at long last addressed the doubt that a range of fans of the team have been inquiring about.

Will he go there or not?

Through Twitter, Iverson, who will now be earning $3.5 million this season for Memphis, concluded all of the speculation and agreed conditionally to join the Memphis team, his third team in the last four seasons.

The deal furthermore contains bonuses for making the post-season, something that hasn’t happened since ’06 (when the team lost to the Dallas Mavericks during the 1st round), and if they make the league championship.

Through the seasons, Iverson has had challenges perceiving leadership and accepting any role that is assigned to him (example: the Pistons) and clashing with coaches (i.e.: the 76ers), which is why very few organizations were interested in Iverson following his tragedy in Detroit.

Now he has shot to do something similar to what he accomplished in Philadelphia (when he entered the league) and guide the fortunes of this franchise around and do it with a threesome of healthy stars in O.J. Mayo, Rudy Gay, and Hasheem Thabeet.

While we should not pencil the Grizzlies in for the post-season by any account, it is not difficult to say that the team will be better from latest year.

If Iverson stays more than one season, possibly there can be chance, but I don’t suppose people must get their hopes up on the fact that the Grizzlies will reach the playoffs.

It is too premature.
