Brighton (England) Has Lots Of Attractions That Children Will Love
Londoners flock to Brighton whenever they get the chance, making this south coast city a very popular place. And thanks to this influx, Brighton has a wealth of activities and facilities for the young and old. Families looking for a weekend break or a longer holiday can find plenty to keep them entertained in this lovely beach side location.
Brighton’s vast shingle beach is much more than a sunbather’s paradise. Traditional amusement arcades line the sea front and restaurants and cafes are never far away. Brighton Pier is a must see with its up to the minute arcade games, fun park with rides for the young and old and Family Entertainment Centre. Overlooking the sea front is an enclosed area for younger children to play in safety. Parents can sit in deckchairs and watch their little ones play in the paddling pool and sand-pits.
Not far from the beach is Brighton’s Sea Life Centre for a fun and educational day out. The centre is constantly updating and, along with its fifty fascinating displays from the Amazon to the Pacific, there is a glass-bottomed boat with views down into the ocean tank. Turtles, sharks and piranhas are just a few of the species on show here.
Kids love toys and with over 10,000 exhibits, Brighton’s Toy and Model Museum is ideal if the weather is not. Some of the toys date back one hundred years and bring back memories for parents and grandparents. Children are amazed at what their elders used to play with before computers were invented.
Volk’s Electric Railway is the ‘world’s oldest operating electric railway’ and runs for just over a mile along Brighton’s sea front. Children are fascinated by the vintage rail cars and it is a novel and exciting way to get from Brighton Pier to the Marina.
Hove Lagoon is a day out with a difference. Children can take courses in windsurfing and dinghy sailing from qualified instructors. For the more energetic, there are even activity weeks. Trips in speedboats and water skiing are possible and youngsters have there own boating lake with a paddling pool, a playground and leisurely boat rides. Cafes and restaurants are provided to make a whole day out a reality.
