Family Business And Your Special Needs Teen

$$$$$$$

Should you have your teen get a job? Perhaps he should. There’s no reason to say no if your teen wants to and if there is a good situation. Actually, many special needs teens are good when working for others.

If you aren’t really comfortable sending your teen to work for someone else, then why not start a home business with him?

Give it some thought. You could work together. You can teach him about responsibility, customer service, sales, marketing, and book keeping.

Here are some ideas.

Pet Sitting Or Grooming. If your teen loves animals (and doesn’t have allergies), pet sitting can be the perfect way for your teen to make money and build self-esteem in the process. Just make sure that he meets his appointments. This may involve driving them or going with them. If you can arrange it, have the pet brought to your home.

Yard Chores. Raking, weeding, spreading mulch. All of these things can pay quite well for a teen. In fact, your teen could easily make more money per hour than many of his classmates who have regular hourly jobs.

Cleaning Up Poop. Yes, you read that right. Yards can get really messy. People are busy. Perfect! It’s not such a nice job, but at least you can do it at your own schedule. It’s flexible and it pays well.

Pseudo Care Giver Your teen can visit once a day and help the elderly.

There are many ways for you and your teen to build a business together. Don’t force your teen into a job that he doesn’t want or can’t handle. There are many other ways for your teen to learn skills needed in a business.
