How to Implement Your Own Acne Diet

An acne diet is a very interesting idea. Who hasn’t heard that eating chocolate may make you break out. I believe we all have. So instead of causing a break out, you could prevent it by watching what you eat.

Nevertheless, a good acne diet is not easy to develop. This type of diet is highly personal since is is based on each individual’s response to foods. Progress, for the most part, will be trial and error. Observe and make note of any changes in your skin. Write down all changes. You could even take pictures a few times a week. So if and when your skin clears up, stay on the diet you were on at the time.

Here are a few instructions to help get you started on an acne diet:

* Take in a lot more protein - Many dermatologists think that protein intake is related to clear skin. This is because protein contains an enzyme that limits the production of oil. Oily skin has always been susceptible to breakouts.

* 2. Avoid carbohydrates - You do not need to cut out carbs completely. But you do need to limit them so that they are only about 40 percent of your diet. This is because there are compounds in carbohydrates that can stimulate oil production. This is why junk food has a reputation for causing acne. In reality, junk food is high in carbs.

* Drinking green tea is very good for you - If possible, drink the real stuff. The best type of green tea is the kind that you brew. However, if you really don’t like it, then try the natural green tea drinks. Green tea limits androgen production. Androgen is a hormone that will cause your skin to breakout.

* 4. Limit your salt intake - Salt most always contains iodine. This is the reason we usually call table salt “iodized salt.” Of course for some people with acne, iodine can cause big breakouts.

You must always be careful of what you eat and put on your face. If you have acne you are probably already more aware than most people of the ingredients in your beauty products. Use oil free moisturizers and organic skin care products. These are least likely to cause a breakout. Consider switching over to mineral makeup. Many dermatologists today believe that mineral makeup can really reduce breakouts and increase the results of your acne diet.
