What Will Happen If Teens Can’t Get Jobs?
With the economy in such poor condition and people getting laid off everyday, the outlook for teen jobs this summer doesnt look very good. This comes at a time when more teens than ever will probably be looking for jobs as they need money for themselves and for their families.
Teens not only need jobs to make money but they also need jobs to keep them busy during the slow summer months. Teens who are employed at least part time are able to learn some new things as well as gain work experience all the while keeping out of trouble. If this summer turns out to be a bad one for jobs, many teens will have too much time on their hands and likely get into some trouble.
Of all the times to be looking for jobs, this summer might be the worst time since the great depression or at least the Carter years. With so many adults out of work and needing money, they are often willing to take jobs that are minimum wage jobs that might have ordinarily gone to teenagers. This will leave even less jobs available for kids and will be demoralizing for them as well.
Teens love the Internet and in this case maybe they can use it for two purposes. The first is to pick up some extra spending money by doing such things as filling out surveys online. This and a few other things are by no means real jobs and can only be used to make some money on the side. Nevertheless, a little money coming in is better than none at all.
The second thing they can use the Internet for is finding a real job. Employers now do much of their job searching through online job websites and teens can become familiar with them and get their resumes listed. There are many hourly jobs and part time jobs posted on the Internet, which is just what most teens are looking for.
