The original Beta Test for Combat Arms ran from May 28, 2008 until June. This version only allowed players from North America, South America and Oceania. Only thirty weapons were available in this version and the maps were limited to four. Although still in the beta stage, Combat Arms was open to everyone on June 26, 2008. Changes continued to be made to the game until its official launch date of July 11, 2008. Not long after Nexon Europe introduced Combat Arms to European players through a teaser website set up on October 28,2008, The closed beta testing was completed on November 11, 2008.
Combat Arm’s announcement of availability to Europe was soon made by Nexon Europe, its provider, presenting a website teaser last October 28, 2008, with the testing of the final Closed Beta on November 11, 2008. Testing’s duration was from December 16, 2008 to January 15, 2009. The game is now fully available in more additional countries like Korea, Australia, Europe and North America and on April 2, 2009, announcing that it would open its doors to players from South America on April 9. Existing Nexon Cash holders may still be permitted to play until their Nexon Cash reaches a given amount until October 9. An additional feature was introduced on November 25, 2009, the in-game chatting system.
On surveys and ratings online conducted by video game critics, Combat Arms rates an average of 71 only. This low average may be attributed to some errors and defects experienced by players on the game including bug scripts and glitches. Commentators from GameZone like Michael Splechta says that notwithstanding its minor defects, it is still a fun time playing Combat arms adding that if enthusiasts would only disregard annoyance from co-players, they would find the game a bit of comparison with other shooting games.
