Zhu Zhu Pets Hamster Fun House

Do you have kids who would love to have a pet, but you don’t want to have real animals in your house?

Well, try out the Zhu Zhu Pets hamster fun house, which includes Patches the hamster. My kids absolutely ADORE this toy, and they still play with it every single day, after a month.

Basically, Patches is a smart little motorized hamster that’s covered with fur and looks remarkably like the real thing. It scurries and scampers around like a real hamster, but it won’t poop or shed everywhere, and you don’t have to feed it. Plus, it never bites! In other words, it’s like a little robot hamster, and gosh darnit if it isn’t really cute and fun to play with, and that’s coming from me, the parent!

Patches actually moves around on his own because of its built in software programming, and can play inside or outside his special fun house. He actually responds to being petted, making sounds and cute movements, and even takes a nap when he’s tired. You can even directly control his actions by pushing some buttons on his back. Patches actually has his own personality, and the hamster’s artificial intelligence is good enough to allow it to explore its surrounding area. Patches can play anywhere, like the living room, but he especially likes to play on the tracks of the Zhu Zhu Funhouse.

The fun house can be expanded by connecting it with other playset, and you can eventually build a super large play area for Patches. Or you can even get another Zhu Zhu hamster (such as Nugget or Nums Nums or Chunk, there’s quite a bunch) later on down the line to keep Patches company. Each Zhu Zhu Pets hamster has its own unique personality and behavior, and if you have two or more they will chirp to each other. There’s a bunch of optional accessories you can get with the fun house such as a hamster wheel (which the hamsters actually run on), and there’s even a little car parked in a garage, which the hamsters actually get in and drive! You can build a whole fun house city if you want.

The Zhu Zhu hamsters run on batteries, which last quite a long time. I think the price of the hamsters and the funhouse accessories is reasonable for the big entertainment value they provide. They are a big hit in my household, and if you have kids ages 2 to 11, I’m sure they’ll be a big hit in yours as well.

NOTE: You can safely disregard any accusations that the Zhu Zhu Pets hamster and related toys contain poison or other harmful materials. The Consumer Product Safety Commission in the USA cleared the toys as being safe for all children.
